[0:24 - 0:54] Uh, I wanted to speak on something, now it's nothing bad, it's nothing negative.
[0:54 - 1:07] But, as you guys know, um, here day after tomorrow I'll be turning 31.
[1:07 - 1:18] Now that day not only marks my 31st birthday, but it also marks something even more important
[1:18 - 1:32] to me than my birthday, or something that means more to me than anything in the world.
[1:32 - 1:49] 17 years ago, on my birthday, I was introduced into the car culture, into the car scene through
[1:49 - 2:03] my older brother, but also I was asked a very important question, and by my best friend
[2:03 - 2:13] who was pretty much my brother, David, about four years before he got up, and at first
[2:13 - 2:23] I didn't really understand what he was getting at, until several years later I caught on.
[2:23 - 2:33] You see, me and David, we were sitting down at lunch and we were talking about what we
[2:33 - 2:41] wanted to do after high school, what our goals were, what our dreams were.
[2:41 - 2:51] But there's one specific question that he asked me, that I didn't know how to answer
[2:51 - 3:10] at the time, but looking back now, 17 years later, I have an answer to that question,
[3:10 - 3:16] and that question that he asked me was the very title of this video.
[3:16 - 3:23] He looked me in my face and asked me, "What drives you?
[3:23 - 3:24] What inspires you?
[3:24 - 3:28] What pushes you to do what you want to do?"
[3:28 - 3:38] And at first I didn't understand it, but 17 years later, I actually do understand
[3:38 - 3:45] what he was talking about.
[3:45 - 3:54] You see, my older brother introduced me into the car culture and into the car scene.
[3:54 - 4:01] Seventeen years ago I got my first taste of the street racing scene and the racing
[4:01 - 4:04] scene in general.
[4:04 - 4:09] Now before that, I didn't know about the car culture scene.
[4:09 - 4:16] I didn't know there was a whole culture surrounding it, because as a kid I grew up on stuff like
[4:16 - 4:20] NASCAR and Formula One racing.
[4:20 - 4:27] I didn't know there was a whole other culture outside of that.
[4:27 - 4:51] Let me show you guys some of the stuff.
[4:51 - 5:02] Seventeen years ago my journey into the car culture scene began
[5:02 - 5:10] with this tiny little disk.
[5:10 - 5:16] Seventeen years ago my journey began with this.
[5:16 - 5:19] It's all disk.
[5:19 - 5:39] Now to some it may seem like just a video game, but for people like myself it was a
[5:39 - 5:49] window and a door into something much greater than ourselves.
[5:49 - 5:53] And for those of you that grew up around the same era, I know you guys will know what I'm
[5:53 - 5:58] talking about.
[5:58 - 6:07] For me that began my journey into something that evolved into something way bigger than
[6:07 - 6:11] I could have ever imagined.
[6:11 - 6:20] That game right there, New Street Underground 2, is responsible for me breaking records,
[6:20 - 6:28] setting records, meeting people that are in the car culture scene, meeting some of my
[6:28 - 6:36] best friends that would soon become my brothers for years to come.
[6:36 - 6:43] And I know a lot of people don't understand the car culture scene.
[6:43 - 6:52] A lot of people think that when I'm sitting on my rig and I'm doing my racing that that's
[6:52 - 6:55] the end of it.
[6:55 - 7:02] People think that there's a difference between real life and sim racing.
[7:02 - 7:09] And for the most part you're right, there is no comparison, they're two different things.
[7:09 - 7:17] But on a deeper level for people like myself, there is no difference.
[7:17 - 7:23] For people like myself doing this kind of racing is the closest thing that we can get
[7:23 - 7:27] to the real deal.
[7:27 - 7:33] For people like myself doing this kind of racing, whether it's through Forza Horizon
[7:33 - 7:43] 4, Forza Horizon 1, 3, even the out-killing brand new Forza Horizon 5, and even games
[7:43 - 7:54] like Forza Motors 4/7, Grid, New for Speed, He, and all these different games that are
[7:54 - 8:03] surrounded by the racing scene gives people like me an opportunity to do what we love
[8:03 - 8:10] and what we're passionate about.
[8:10 - 8:17] Because my older brother introduced me into the Fast and Furious franchise back when I
[8:17 - 8:30] was a kid, and then years later getting introduced in 2006 when I was 16 years old into the racing
[8:30 - 8:33] scene through Need for Speed Underground 2.
[8:33 - 8:38] That opened up so much for me.
[8:38 - 8:44] That opened up so many opportunities for me.
[8:44 - 8:50] Through that game, I was able to make friends that I'm still very close with today.
[8:50 - 9:03] Some of my best friends in the world, I met through Underground 2.
[9:03 - 9:15] And then years later, in this generation and in this era, I did some of the coolest things
[9:15 - 9:21] that not many can sit there and say that they got the chance to do.
[9:21 - 9:30] I got to go door to door with some of the best drivers on the face of the world through
[9:30 - 9:33] Horizon 4.
[9:33 - 9:39] I met a band of brothers who a few months ago I didn't know would become some of my
[9:39 - 9:45] best friends in the world.
[9:45 - 9:54] I've literally gotten to go door to door with some of the best drivers in real life
[9:54 - 10:01] on the face of this planet through Horizon 4 I've gotten to compete on Horizon 4 going
[10:01 - 10:06] door to door with these drivers who would eventually become some very good friends of
[10:06 - 10:14] mine such as Von Gittin Jr. who was a world renowned not only rally cross driver but
[10:14 - 10:17] drifter as well.
[10:17 - 10:23] I've gotten to go door to door with Ken Block and his son.
[10:23 - 10:32] I've gotten to meet some of my favorite YouTubers that I grew up watching as a kid through
[10:32 - 10:35] this.
[10:35 - 10:40] And a lot of people don't understand they think like oh it's just a video game get
[10:40 - 10:47] out of your room this and that but for me and for others like myself it's not just
[10:47 - 10:53] a video game for us it's an escape it's a way for us to express ourselves.
[10:53 - 11:04] It's a way for us to build a community and for me specifically this just me personally
[11:04 - 11:12] everybody has their own reason for why they do what they do within the car community.
[11:12 - 11:21] For me it's about keeping a legacy and a memory alive.
[11:21 - 11:30] For me it's about keeping the spirit of the man that inspired me the legendary Paul Walker.
[11:30 - 11:36] For me it's about keeping his spirit alive and keeping my older brother's memory alive
[11:36 - 11:44] who brought me into this scene.
[11:44 - 12:11] And with that I want to play this for you guys.

[16:38 - 16:49] community.
