[0:00 - 0:15] I'm going to let you guys watch this guide that I actually use.
[0:15 - 0:27] Why are you guys watching that? I'm going to go with you right click and I'll be right back.
[0:27 - 0:46] Hi, I'm Jon Orson the ride consultant on 3rd Ride 2.0. In this video we're going to take a little look at the basic driving techniques you need as a ride driver such as handbrake turns, manual starts, straight lines braking and the racing line.
[0:46 - 0:56] The perfect stage begins with getting away from the start line as fast as possible. By selecting manual starts on in the menus you can take control of all the inputs of the car to get away from it.
[0:56 - 1:10] You want to be aware of the start lights before we get going as you can see they're on the right hand side. You'll see in the bottom of the screen we are being prompted to hold the handbrake.
[1:10 - 1:18] So you want to make sure the car is in first gear which it is and gauge the clutch as well and when we hold the handbrake the countdown will begin.
[1:18 - 1:27] You want to build the revs up to about 6000. When the lights go out we drop the handbrake and allow the clutch.
[1:27 - 1:46] We want to modulate the throttle to get as much traction as we can off the line. This is especially important on gravel where traction is harder to find but on tarmac like this we can pretty much just smash the throttle.
[1:46 - 2:00] So now we've got the start line and our travel through the track at speed. We want to be aware of a racing line. The racing line is the fastest route around a corner and it maximizes corner speed.
[2:00 - 2:16] Basically when we come to the corner we want to stay to the outside on handbrake and when we're braking. Then we want to look for the eight packs. The eight packs is the point where we clip the inside of the corner and it's typically about halfway through the corner.
[2:16 - 2:21] Once we clip the eight packs we run out wide again and this maximizes the speed.
[2:21 - 2:33] Depending on the length of the corner the eight packs can be later or earlier. So in short corners the eight packs is typically earlier and on the other corners the eight packs is later.
[2:39 - 2:54] The co-driver quads are read out by the co-driver who sits beside us as we travel down the stage. The goal is to define the track in front of us in high detail so we know what's coming up and we can drive the track as fast as possible.
[2:54 - 3:08] This includes corner severity, distance between corners and other warnings such as jumps. The corner severity is detailed by numbers with six being the least severe and one being the most severe.
[3:08 - 3:20] We also have square and hairpins. The distances between the corner are meters and we can have anything from 30 meters to light up to 500 meters or in some cases more.
[3:20 - 3:32] Some other warnings include bridges, jumps, bumps, don't cut, cut, as much detail as we can so we know what to expect and to get through cleanly.
[3:36 - 3:48] So straight line braking, the goal is to brake in a straight line without disturbing the balance of the car too much. On the entry to corners we want to brake in as straight line as possible.
[3:48 - 3:54] Whenever we're coming down to the corner we need to pick a braking point that's not too late and not too early.
[3:54 - 4:01] Whenever we brake we want to brake firmly and try not to lock the wheels as the sole cause is to lose control.
[4:01 - 4:06] Whenever we brake hard we're transferring weight onto the front axle which takes away grip at the rear of the car.
[4:06 - 4:16] Whenever we put in steering inputs this will transfer weight as well onto each corner and by doing this we can lose traction on one side to slide around corners.
[4:16 - 4:29] We use handbrake turns in very tight corners, usually hairpins. By pulling the handbrake we lock the rear wheel which results in a sudden loss of traction at the rear.
[4:29 - 4:32] We're able to pivot the rear axle around the front axle.
[4:32 - 4:37] Approaching the corner we want to reduce the speed. We need to make sure the speed is low off to make the corner.
[4:37 - 4:43] We also need to make sure we have enough speed so the handbrake turn can be executed correctly.
[4:43 - 4:52] Ideally we want to down change the first gear but depending on the car we might enter the corner in second and then downshift midway through the handbrake turn.
[4:52 - 5:00] On the entry to the corner we want to turn steering quickly into the X. At the same time we want to give the handbrake a quick and firm pull.
[5:00 - 5:07] We turn in first, we transfer weight onto the outside tires and when we pull the handbrake this axle load helps rotate the car.
[5:07 - 5:16] We want to be able to see the axle in the corner before applying the throttle. However in rapid ride cars we want to modulate the throttle to keep the rear pivoted around the front.
[5:16 - 5:23] The clutch may be used in tighter hairpins to stop the carbon stalling and to build the rails up and help with weight loss.
[5:23 - 5:30] Thank you very much for watching this video, make sure to check out our other driver tutorial videos for more tips on ride driving.

[6:08 - 6:13] Welcome back to the Dirt Rye driver tutorials. In the first video we looked at the basic techniques.
[6:13 - 6:20] In this one we're going to take a look at the more advanced ones such as oversteer, understeer, throttle control and left up braking.
[6:20 - 6:31] On the stairs we enter a corner and the car does not turn enough to the steering input and wants to keep going straight.
[6:31 - 6:42] This can happen because of many reasons. Usually it's too much entry speed into the corner, it can be the driver input for the steering and also the car setup.
[6:42 - 6:50] So whenever we come into the corner we brake and turn in but the car wants to go straight.
[6:52 - 7:04] This is what understeer is. Understeer can be prevented by changing the car setup, making the front suspension a little bit softer in the rear, a little bit stiffer.
[7:04 - 7:09] If you're still suffering from understeer you can try using a little bit of a handbrake just to bring the rear around.
[7:09 - 7:15] So you see if we understeer we pull the handbrake and we lose traction to the rear which can help with it.
[7:16 - 7:26] Oversteer is whenever we turn into a corner and the car rotates more than expected and the rear comes round and can cause us to spin out.
[7:26 - 7:31] If we turn in the corner the rear comes around and starts sliding.
[7:31 - 7:40] Oversteer can be corrected with counter steering which is turning into the opposite direction of the corner.
[7:40 - 7:45] If we turn in we get the rear come round and we're counter steering to balance the car around the corner.
[7:45 - 7:50] We want to manage the throttle input as well, especially on rear and drive cars, not the spin.
[7:50 - 7:56] A little bit of understeer on the oversteer is generally a part of driving a rally car.
[7:56 - 8:02] However if we have to choose I think a little bit of oversteer is preferred.
[8:09 - 8:21] Crawl control is very important in riding as you need to balance the car at all times to get traction and not smash the throttle as that will definitely not get you traction.
[8:21 - 8:34] Especially in rear and drive cars whenever you're trying to hold a sleigh you need to almost pump the throttle in and out to keep the car pivoting and find as much traction as you can.
[8:35 - 8:44] If we go around just long it's almost like a donut and we're just balancing the throttle almost steer from the rear.
[8:44 - 8:51] The rear wheels are the driven ones and are losing traction.
[8:51 - 9:00] In a front-wheel drive car it's important not to smash the throttle too much or you'll get lots of understeer mid-corner.
[9:00 - 9:09] In a four-wheel drive car you need to balance the throttle inputs so you don't get too much oversteer or understeer mid-corner.
[9:09 - 9:22] Left-foot braking is where we use our left foot instead of our right foot which you would normally use in a road car to do the majority of the braking.
[9:22 - 9:29] This means the time taken to change your right foot and throttle to braking input is no longer an issue.
[9:29 - 9:33] It means you can drive quicker through the stage.
[9:33 - 9:43] So we come down to this corner instead of braking with our right foot we can brake our left foot and we can still manage the car a little bit on throttle.
[9:43 - 9:50] We can also use the left foot to balance the car throughout the corner and change the trajectory of the car.
[9:51 - 10:03] Trail braking is a bit like left foot braking. We use our left foot to find the braking point and then we gradually let off the braking pressure as we go into the corner.
[10:03 - 10:11] This means that we're almost coasting into the corner and can maximize the corner speed we carry.
[10:12 - 10:23] So we'll just show as we come up to this corner. So we're coming off both pick a braking point which is usually a little bit earlier and then we gently let off the throttle as we come in.
[10:23 - 10:26] We're coasting the X and get back on the throttle.
[10:32 - 10:47] Hands-on turn is used to onset the balance of the car going into the corner to initiate a slide. We came popular in the 70s with braking drive cars as they no power steering and it was particularly hard to do handbrake turns.
[10:47 - 11:00] So we come into the corner, we start braking turn the other way and turn into the corner with a little bit of throttle input and we get the car slide to show that again on the next corner.
[11:01 - 11:15] So we brake return one way and then the other and that loads outside power and gets the rear slide around especially in a rear drive car that has a little traction on the rear wheels.
[11:15 - 11:23] Thank you very much for watching this video. Make sure to check out our other driver's tutorial videos for more tips on rally driving.
[11:24 - 11:26] Thank you very much.
[11:27 - 11:37] Thanks for watching.
[12:01 - 12:11] Welcome to the DiRT Rally 2.0 driver tutorials. In this video we're going to take a look at different drive types such as rear wheel drive, front wheel drive and four wheel drive and how you can master each one.
[12:11 - 12:27] Rear wheel drive cars are probably the most difficult drive type to master because the rear axle is always fighting for traction. Therefore you need good throttle control to balance the car and not spin.
[12:28 - 12:37] The quickest way to drive rear wheel drive cars can be by sliding from corner to corner and a flowing way that carries more speed almost like a dance.
[12:37 - 12:50] Rear wheel drive cars can also be difficult to drive in tracks that have a lot of ruts and bumps as the rear wheels can pop out of the ruts onto the loose gravel on the outside of the track resulting in a sudden loss of traction.
[12:57 - 13:13] Rear wheel drive cars are usually small hatchbacks like the S-R2 that I'm currently driving. The front axle is the driven one so you lose traction of the front wheels and you can suffer from understeer so you need to try and manage that.
[13:14 - 13:30] If the understeer is manageable with setup on driving style a lot of corner speed can be carried. Throttle and braking inputs can help manage understeer. The handbrake can also be used in slower corners to help rotate the rear and prevent understeer that leads to time loss.
[13:37 - 13:49] Four wheel drive was introduced into rallying in the 80s with the Group B monsters. Modern day four wheel drive cars have a lot of mechanical grip via differential and suspension and technology advances.
[13:49 - 14:03] To get the most speed out of four wheel drive cars you need to drive very smoothly as you would with a front wheel drive car but you also need to manage throttle control and braking like a rear wheel drive car to be clean and tidy.
[14:04 - 14:19] On gravel you slide more through the corners but not too sideways or you will start to lose speed. On tarmac you need to try and not slide too much and use the front and rear differentials to get as much traction down on the ground as possible.
[14:22 - 14:29] Thank you very much for watching this video, make sure to check out our other driver's tutorial videos for more tips on rally driving.

[14:47 - 15:16] Welcome to the Dirt Eye 2.0 driver tutorials. In this video we are going to take a look at the different surface types you will face in the game such as gravel, snow and tarmac.
[15:16 - 15:36] Travel is a very low surface which means you have a lot less traction therefore you need a brake order coming into corners and you also need to pitch the car into the slide to maintain speed through the corner.
[15:36 - 15:43] The car setup is usually a higher right out and softer suspension to try and find traction.
[15:43 - 15:47] [Music]
[15:47 - 16:03] Tarmac provides the most grip and traction of all the surfaces we face in rally. Braking distances are shorter than other surfaces and you can carry a lot of speed thanks to a stiffer suspension, bigger brakes, slick tarmac tires and a lower right out.
[16:03 - 16:09] You need to be careful in wet weather as tarmac can be very unforgiven in damp and wet conditions.
[16:10 - 16:15] [Music]
[16:15 - 16:26] Wet weather can make the road surface more difficult to drive on as there is less traction. This means you need to be more tentative with every input such as throttle, braking and steering.
[16:27 - 16:40] Corner speeds will be lower as the tires will slip much earlier. You can however adjust the car setup to be softer to allow the car to load more and therefore take away load on the tires allowing you to drive more cleanly.
[16:40 - 16:46] [Music]
[16:47 - 16:59] Also the rally cars are fitted with skinny tires that have over 300 studs protruding from them. This helps the car find traction as the studed tire bites into the outer space providing the lower grip.
[16:59 - 17:06] So much so that most rally drivers would agree that there is more grip on snow rallies than that of throttle events.
[17:06 - 17:16] Snow rallies also have high snow banks at the side of the stage which can be used to carry more speed into the corners by rubbing against them on the axle of the bend.
[17:16 - 17:23] However if you carry too much speed the front wheel car can get dragged into the snow bank and you will get stuck for minutes.
[17:23 - 17:32] Thank you very much for watching this video. Make sure to check out our other driver's tutorial videos for more tips on rally driving.
[17:32 - 18:10] [Music]
[18:10 - 18:21] Welcome to the Dirt Rally 2.0 driver's tutorials. In this video we are going to take a look at the different track features you will face such as road camber, water splashes and jumps.
[18:21 - 18:26] [Music]
[18:27 - 18:34] This is our difficult track feature because when you enter the water you don't have much control over the car as the car will act with him.
[18:34 - 18:40] You need to enter the water splash at the correct speed so you don't dam it to the car and there is control.
[18:40 - 18:46] Keep the car straight and don't put on too much throttle or brake when you enter the water.
[18:46 - 18:51] [Music]
[18:52 - 19:00] This can be used to carry more corner speed as the camber leans into the inside of the bend which gives the outside tires that you are leaning on more grip.
[19:00 - 19:09] Negative camber gives you less grip because the car tries to push to the outside of the corner because gravity wants the car to slide towards the outside of the track.
[19:09 - 19:14] This means you need to reduce your speed lower than normal to make the corner.
[19:14 - 19:19] [Music]
[19:20 - 19:27] So I'm sure where the car leaves the ground over a sharp crest. The aim is for the car to fly straight and level in the air and land level too.
[19:27 - 19:37] Where the engine is placed on the car can affect hard flights. For example, front engine cars tend to nose dive whereas rear engine cars fly more level.
[19:37 - 19:45] You can also try to keep the car level by not braking too much before takeoff and try to accelerate to keep the weight towards the rear of the car.
[19:46 - 19:54] You need a balance between flying too far and also braking too much. Sometimes the quicker you can get back on the ground the quicker you can accelerate again.
[19:54 - 20:00] [Music]
[20:00 - 20:06] Drive mount punctures is tricky because the car is pulling to one side and you'll be fighting with the steering.
[20:06 - 20:11] There is also a sudden loss of grip at the corner of the car when the puncture has happened.
[20:12 - 20:16] Punchers make the car oversteer and front punctures make the car understeer.
[20:16 - 20:23] If you can opt to stop and change the puncture on the stage you need to make this decision based on how much of the stage you have completed.
[20:23 - 20:33] It will cost you one minute to repair the puncture on the stage so you need to decide if there is more or less the moment if they drive them to the finish on the puncture.
[20:33 - 20:40] Thank you very much for watching this video. Make sure to check out all our driver's tutorial videos for more tips on ride driving.

[21:19 - 21:29] Hi, I'm John Armson, the ride consultant at Ride 2.0. In this video we're going to take a look at Ridecross including the race format rules, the joker lap and the spotter.
[21:29 - 21:33] [Music]
[21:33 - 21:41] Ridecross is a combination of ride driving and circuit racing as the circuits feature both tarmac and gravel sections.
[21:42 - 21:53] Ridecross supercars look very similar to Ridecar's with a lot of suspension travel. However, with over 600bhp they can accelerate from not to 60 mph in over 2 seconds.
[21:53 - 22:07] Ridecross can be classified as a contact sport as a moderate amount of contact is accepted. However, this does not mean you can ram someone off the track as some incidents are investigated and the penalties can occur.
[22:08 - 22:15] Each weekend begins with two open practice sessions which can be used to get familiar with the racetrack and dial in there to ourselves.
[22:15 - 22:28] The competitive racing starts with four timed qualifying races which are four laps in length. Here 20 drivers compete in groups of five head to head. The aim is to set the fastest possible race time.
[22:29 - 22:38] The times from each race are entered in combined at leaderboard which means even if you win your heat you may not have the fastest qualifying time overall.
[22:38 - 22:51] The fastest overall time for each qualifier is awarded 50 points with a maximum of 200bhp across the four qualifiers. The top 12 drivers with the most points will progress into the semi-finals.
[22:52 - 23:06] There are two semi-final races with now six laps in length with six drivers in each. The grid is now staggered with the fastest qualifying drivers starting at the front of the grid. The top three drivers in each semi-final will progress into the final.
[23:06 - 23:15] The final also has six laps in length with six drivers on the grid. The grid is staggered and grid positions are based on the semi-final results.
[23:16 - 23:24] The winner of the final is the overall winner of the race weekend. The challenge points are awarded across the qualifiers, semi-finals and final.
[23:30 - 23:53] In running across each driver is allowed to have a spotter. The spotter communicates to the driver via an intercom system that is linked to the driver's helmet. The spotter's job is to give the driver information on what is happening around them as well as controlling the driver's racing strategy from the spotter's tyre so they don't get caught up in traffic and can complete the joker lap at the correct point of the race.
[23:57 - 24:04] In every race you must take one joker lap which is a different section of track usually taking longer to complete than the standard lap.
[24:04 - 24:11] You may take the joker lap at any point of the race. If you fail to take the joker lap you will receive a 30 second time pounding.
[24:11 - 24:21] You will want to have a good strategy in place for when to take your joker lap. For example, if you're stuck in traffic you may want to take your joker lap to get a clear track again.
[24:22 - 24:26] And if you're on the lead you'll usually want to lead the joker lap until the final lap.
[24:26 - 24:35] The joker lap delta will be shown on your screen. This gives you a rough indication of how much longer it takes to complete the joker lap over the normal lap.
[24:35 - 24:42] And you can use this delta to determine when to take the joker lap based on the gap between the car, head or behind you.
[24:47 - 24:53] A technically good start is crucial in a rallycross race as it can be difficult to complete multiple passes in a race that is so short.
[24:53 - 25:00] The start lights will light up. At this point you will want to build the revs of your car up and anticipate the lights going out.
[25:00 - 25:07] When the lights go out the race starts. Some drivers try to guess when the lights will go out to gain an advantage.
[25:07 - 25:14] However, you need to be careful. If you jump the start the race will be restarted and you will have to complete and actually joker lap.
[25:15 - 25:18] If you jump the start for the second time you will be disqualified.
[25:18 - 25:23] Cutting the corners with all four winds up the track will also be nice.
[25:23 - 25:27] You will get a post race time penalty for one or two offences.
[25:27 - 25:34] However, you will be disqualified if you corner cut excessively throughout the race after being warned by your spotter.
[25:34 - 25:42] Thank you very much for watching this video. Make sure to check out our other driver's tutorial videos for more tips on rally driving.

[26:18 - 26:25] I have to go down, eat dinner, all that fun shit. I have tacos for dinner.
[26:25 - 26:44] So, like I said I do apologize for the long wait.
[26:45 - 26:57] But now you guys have an idea on. You guys have a few tips that you can use for rallying.

[28:11 - 28:14] That's because it is Twitch's fault, you fucking retard.

[28:40 - 28:44] Oh, this is sketchy. Whoa, nope.
[28:44 - 28:48] Oh, they want my bumper.
[28:48 - 28:57] I love how y'all want to try to place the blame on me when it ain't on me.
[28:58 - 29:00] I love that shit, that's funny.

[30:14 - 30:17] Oh, this is sketchy.
[30:20 - 30:26] No code for the driver to assist. This takes so seriously false.
[30:26 - 30:30] Oh, shit.
[30:30 - 30:35] Oh.
[30:35 - 30:49] No, I am not taking that penalty.

[31:47 - 31:50] Oh, shit.
[31:50 - 31:52] Whoa, hairpin.
