[0:00 - 0:13] Hello everyone, my name is Chance, or more musically known as Shadowboy. Man, I've come
[0:13 - 0:23] to you today to explain you know why I'm not assigned to a record label and why I'm
[0:23 - 0:36] not you know making it within the music industry as well as how I came to be in
[0:36 - 0:42] music. I always start off by telling you a little bit about myself so you got a
[0:42 - 0:52] better understanding. First off you know I was born in Anchorage, Alaska 1990 when
[0:52 - 1:04] I was born, I was born with one kidney and one and a half lungs and I was also
[1:04 - 1:12] born one pound twelve ounces was not supposed to live. Doctors told my mom
[1:12 - 1:20] that I would not live past birth and yet here I sit 27 years later talking to
[1:20 - 1:35] you guys and you know like I'm sure some of you know by now you know I
[1:35 - 1:42] initially got my start in music back in early 2011 and met up with a bunch of
[1:42 - 1:53] really good people in 2012 and started working really hard in music since and
[1:53 - 2:02] you know my friend Zach also known as possessed one he was amazing enough to
[2:02 - 2:17] you know take me in and help me which he still does this very day he still does a
[2:17 - 2:34] wonderful amazing job I couldn't ask for a better you know music manager than him. But about two to
[2:34 - 2:41] three years ago he sent my music to a record label and they said they would
[2:41 - 2:47] think about it and ultimately you know he got a deal where he met up with
[2:47 - 2:55] them at a club that you know he goes to every every weekend and that they go to
[2:55 - 3:09] a lot so he met one of the A&R's there and you know he showed them some of my
[3:09 - 3:13] music and they're all like dude you know this is really good working with
[3:13 - 3:23] Finding Sky what's his name well he was like you know I've got him right here I
[3:23 - 3:31] can call him up you guys can talk and everything else and so you know he had
[3:31 - 3:38] them call me up on video channel so you know that we could talk face to face and
[3:38 - 3:44] they sat right there in front of him and told me that because of how I look I
[3:44 - 3:52] would not make it in the music industry because of how I physically look and I
[3:52 - 3:58] admit I confronted them about it and I asked them I was like why won't you
[3:58 - 4:05] sign me like you know instead of focusing on my looks you know you should
[4:05 - 4:09] focus on my talent and what I can bring to the table because you already know
[4:09 - 4:20] that and you know I do have a small but very wide and you know fan base
[4:20 - 4:28] following I've got fans from places like Indonesia I've got fans over in India
[4:28 - 4:37] Singapore the Philippines you know as well as here in the US so you know I've
[4:37 - 4:48] got a small but tight name fan base and they did not say another word and
[4:48 - 4:56] basically I don't have to call well little did I know that me confronting
[4:56 - 5:00] them and also putting a diss song out on them because of what they said to me
[5:00 - 5:06] and when I told you guys that's just the tip of the iceberg like they said a
[5:06 - 5:11] lot of really screwed up things and I wouldn't you know I'll admit I did put
[5:11 - 5:18] this track out on them calling them out on what they said me because at that
[5:18 - 5:26] point it was no longer business it was personal so you know I did what I had to
[5:26 - 5:32] do I put on this track well ever since they've been going around to other
[5:32 - 5:39] major record labels and talking crap about me telling them not to sign me
[5:39 - 5:47] because of how I look because I'll do this and that when I won't and you guys
[5:47 - 5:51] are wondering what my what is it was actually with WB records or if you guys
[5:51 - 5:56] are wondering what WB stands for if you don't know it's Warner Brothers records
[5:56 - 6:03] they've done music for major movies they're the ones that put out all the
[6:03 - 6:15] major production music and movies and you know every day I get asked and why
[6:15 - 6:21] are you not sign is because every label I talk to bullies me they tell me I'll
[6:21 - 6:26] never make it because of how I look I get my artwork stolen every day I get
[6:26 - 6:33] my music stolen every day by random people and every day you know what they
[6:33 - 6:38] tell me oh you're too ugly to be able to do this oh you're too ugly to make
[6:38 - 6:44] him in the music industry you couldn't have done this RFPs you're too ugly
[6:44 - 6:53] that's the type of scrutiny I face every day and a lot of you are wondering well
[6:53 - 6:59] why can't you work well to the honest with you I didn't finish high school
[6:59 - 7:03] because I got my diploma ripped off from me and here in Ohio you have to
[7:03 - 7:10] pay for you know your genie classes which my family can't afford we just
[7:10 - 7:17] barely get by on bills month to month we're lucky if we're able to treat
[7:17 - 7:21] ourselves to a soda once a week
[7:27 - 7:35] and you know ultimately you know I can't visit we work because you know
[7:35 - 7:42] about five months ago my mom was in a terrible accident she was actually hit
[7:42 - 7:49] by a car in on time traffic she got thrown 10 feet and really messed up her
[7:49 - 7:57] hip and really badly and ever since then you know she can't do very much so I
[7:57 - 8:01] literally have to sit here at home and help take care of her every day that's
[8:01 - 8:03] my life
[8:03 - 8:12] and then more recently she had gallstone surgery so you know there's that as
[8:12 - 8:19] well and people don't realize but those two things are very debilitating to her
[8:19 - 8:30] and you know every day you know she fights harder than anybody I know to
[8:30 - 8:33] survive
[8:33 - 8:43] and you know people keep asking me well why don't you you know wear a mask or
[8:43 - 8:47] something like that well why would I need to wear a mask why should I hide
[8:47 - 9:00] who I really am I shouldn't have to hide who I am I really should have
[9:00 - 9:10] and I think just last night I was talking to another very big label who
[9:10 - 9:17] actually the backstreet boys were signed with back in the day which is drag
[9:17 - 9:22] records you know very huge label very big fan of their artists and their
[9:22 - 9:32] music well I spoke with the AR on the phone only by voice chat now video and
[9:32 - 9:39] he asked me I was like so like if we do sign you like what do you plan on doing
[9:39 - 9:43] like just out of pure interest they were wondering and I told them how I
[9:43 - 9:52] wanted to be the first successful music artist that special needs as well as
[9:52 - 10:00] run the first ever successful record label that focuses on helping kids with
[10:00 - 10:04] special needs who are interested in music and helping them become
[10:04 - 10:11] independent and you know what he did he sat right there and laughed at me to my
[10:11 - 10:20] face he sat right there and laughed at me and every day I get faced with this
[10:20 - 10:29] kind of stuff I get scrutinized by major major labels every day I get told
[10:29 - 10:33] that I'm not good enough every day I get told because of how I physically
[10:33 - 10:39] look then I would not make it in the music industry and time and time again
[10:39 - 10:44] I have even more people telling me you're still some very good I like what
[10:44 - 10:51] you do you don't keep doing it you deserve to be signed at one point my
[10:51 - 10:56] best friend from high school Samantha Clinger
[10:56 - 11:07] she said something that is completely true what these labels are doing to me
[11:07 - 11:15] is discrimination they're singling me out and discriminating against my
[11:15 - 11:23] physical appearance when I can't help how I look I can't help that and this
[11:23 - 11:31] is the type of stuff I face every single day every day I'm being torn down by
[11:31 - 11:42] record labels told that I'm not good enough every day I face people lying to
[11:42 - 11:55] my face I get told that I'm never gonna be good enough and you know she's right
[11:55 - 11:59] what these labels are doing to me is discriminating against me because of my
[11:59 - 12:04] physical appearance and not focusing on my talents and what I can bring to the
[12:04 - 12:14] table do I have any money no do I have a computer I used to but not anymore
[12:14 - 12:19] because it basically quit and we had to get rid of it so I no longer have a
[12:19 - 12:25] computer to do my stuff all I have is this Kindle which I'm barely able to do
[12:25 - 12:34] anything on I don't have anything other than that in my USB mic that's all I've
[12:34 - 12:41] got there's my Kindle and my skills of music and a USB mic that's all I got
[12:41 - 12:48] if you guys don't believe me here's where my Kindle usually sits or my
[12:48 - 12:56] computer as you see nothing about food and stuff over there now like right
[12:56 - 13:06] there as you guys can see nothing but food and an empty space that's where my
[13:06 - 13:21] computer used to sit so I don't have anything except my talents that's all I've got and do I want to prove these record labels wrong and show them that I can
[13:21 - 13:31] be successful yes I do but I need your guys's help I know someone coming to you
[13:31 - 13:36] this is because I am because it's my stuff
[13:36 - 13:47] but with your guys's help with your help and sharing this video around to
[13:47 - 13:57] everybody you know hopefully something will come of this and I'll admit at one
[13:57 - 14:03] point I did have a two million dollar record deal that I was supposed to sign
[14:03 - 14:08] for but the guy that did it it was actually for strange music and you guys
[14:08 - 14:19] don't know strange music book of tech 9 well I was supposed to sign with strange
[14:19 - 14:26] music but the guy that was trying to sign me didn't have that right that
[14:26 - 14:33] wasn't his position or his ranking in the music industry label to do so and
[14:33 - 14:44] ultimately the deal went void and I wasn't able to get a sign and if some of
[14:44 - 14:51] you are wondering I'm literally first generation music producer and singer and
[14:51 - 15:03] songwriter and my family you know music to my whole life that's how I escape
[15:03 - 15:13] from reality that's how I escape all the stuff I go through every day I use
[15:13 - 15:20] music to escape being bullied I use music to help others which is what I
[15:20 - 15:27] would ultimately like my music to do is to help other people whether they're
[15:27 - 15:32] going through depression whether they're going through being bullied you know
[15:32 - 15:37] situations at home you know mental problems whatever they're going through
[15:37 - 15:47] I want my music to help them and you know every day I get told by a lot of
[15:47 - 15:55] people who enjoy my work you know you deserve to be silent your music is very
[15:55 - 16:02] good your melodic scream vocals are that of the legendary and the late
[16:02 - 16:09] Mitch Walker from suicide silence and you know that stuff it means the world
[16:09 - 16:19] to me so you see as you guys just saw I don't have anything I don't have any
[16:19 - 16:29] money I don't have a job because I can't work I don't have a computer but
[16:29 - 16:35] yeah I still keep trucking on every day and producing music as best I can via
[16:35 - 16:43] Kindle fire but like I said with your guys's help I can not only put an end to
[16:43 - 16:50] this you know situation with these labels for good but I can also and
[16:50 - 16:59] possibly put an end to this discrimination for good and not only for
[16:59 - 17:04] myself I not only want this for myself but I want this for other music artists
[17:04 - 17:13] like myself I want this for myself and for other music artists who are being
[17:13 - 17:23] discriminated against like myself so with that being said guys if you could
[17:23 - 17:32] please please share this video around to everyone and everywhere like sure to
[17:32 - 17:39] you know your friends your family Sheraton news channels especially cuz I
[17:39 - 17:46] do want the news to know about this like I want everybody in everyone I
[17:46 - 17:53] want everyone all over to know about this to know my story and know what I
[17:53 - 17:58] go through every day not just as a music artist but as a person being
[17:58 - 18:08] discriminated against so please guys I heard every single one of you share this
[18:08 - 18:14] video around share to you know your local news station share the newspapers
[18:14 - 18:22] share it everywhere that you can help this video go viral please help this
[18:22 - 18:29] video go viral so that we can make a change with that being said guys this
